Why do crying babies bug us so?

Yes, nothing gets under one's skin like a baby hollerin at full gale. Why? We pulled out our decibel meter to check. Um.. maybe because that howl is 90 to 95 decibels !!! That is somewhere between loud factory and jackhammer. That explains the ringing in our ears...
